So no sports today ok maybe a little but BS and IJ had a good topic for the blog today.. I know you will miss my commenting on my weight, head and overall shartiness but I will give it a shot.. It just so happens that I am torturing myself with trying to get through entire catalog that I have on my pod.. I am just finishing "What’s going on" The Allstar Tribute.. Well the idea is to come up with your top 10 songs from the 80's.. This is not easy since I have the memory of a nat and a butt the size of a Buick (how is the relevant heavy it isn't I just needed perspective)
So I have not asked IJ permession so I will put his prelim top out here to get the insults flying.. IJ please revise your list in the comments section
1. Pride (In the Name of Love) - U2
2. Faithfully - Journey
3. Bastards of Young - The Replacements
4. When Doves Cry - Prince
5. Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
6. This Time - INXS
7. With or Without You - U2
8. Tainted Love - Soft Cell
9. Heaven - Bryan Adams
10. Crazy for You - Madonna
I never want to judge (wait a minute) but it appears that IJ is not afraid to declare his out right Karma chameleoness.. Wait a minute I like Man George he doesn't wear skirts anymore wait a minute I believe he is again.. JLO please restrict yourself to a minumium of Huey and BlowChuncks or whatever he called his band. Please take your time to release your inner mullet.. Maybe we could break this into categories I would like to hear everybody's take.. FT has little to no taste so keep your boring instrumentals out of here.. I would like to hear from the younger J lad from Morris if possible.. If anyone can get your wife to give you her top 5 at least from the eighties I would love to rip it apart.. I will have work on mine but all I need to get through all of the Ann Murray material before I can get my list out there.. My head is spinning if I just look at the bands Duran Duran Bon Jovi El Debarge the Cure Talking Heads The Boss J Geils Band help I think I am going to be sick.. M5 your homo dance mix will not be allowed in this list.. DenverJ please keep your Hair Band refs to a minumum..Before you Post BS yeah we know you like Bruce but try and freshen it up a little.. Don't get all high and mighty and go for the classics or whatver go for the crap that you really liked back in the day.. I think admitting you like tainted love by soft Cell really is what we are getting at.. I am thinking Dan hartman I can dream about you will make my list but I am not sure that is light enough for me.

Thanks for sharing my list(pause, pause, pause..)Not! ("Borat")
I do need to update my list. Asia needs to be on there. Was Frank Mills "Music Box Dancer" from the 80's? How about Joey Scarbury's "Greatest American Hero Theme"...Believe it or not I'M walking on air...
Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams".
Styx - "Mr. Roboto"
Jlo, be sure you add "Moon and New York City" by Christopher Cross. That has to be on your list, you used to play it 1,000 times on your 8-track, along with Manhattan Transfer's "Boy from New York City"... "Ew Wah-Ew Wah, Cool Cool Kitty, Tell us about the boy from New York City". This is burned in my brain.
To give JLO props though, he had Run D.M.C. before anyone else, and no, not "Walk this Way", years before. The album with "Hard Times" and "Rock Box". JLO also had some solid alternative stuff with The Cult and the Screaming Blue Messiahs. The first time I heard U2's Joshua Tree was with JLO in his dorm room.
I have to revise my list, and JLO, no need to mention my Michael Jackson phase....
1. Run to You - Bryan Adams
2. All You Zombies - The Hooters
3. Pride In the Name of Love - U2
4. 17 Days - Prince
5. She Sells Santuary - The Cult
6. Don't Stop Believin' - Journey
7. Photograph - Def Leppard
8. In the Air Tonight - Phil Collins
9. Twilight Zone - Golden Earring
10. Limelight - Rush
11. Your Love - The Outfield
Remember HeavyD and IJ, I am 6 years older than you so my musical taste was more mature than yours.
In no particular order:
1. Johnny 99 – Bruce Springsteen
2. Shakin’ – Eddie Money
3. Centerfold – J. Geils Band
4. Edge of Seventeen – Stevie Nicks
5. I Love Rock ‘n Roll – Joan Jett
6. Start Me Up – Rolling Stones
7. Copperhead Road – Steve Earle
8. Don't Come Around Here No More - Tom Petty (one of the greatest music videos ever)
9. Burning Down the House – Talking Heads
10. Born in the U.S.A. – Springsteen (I had to pick a song from “Born in the USA” - not my favorite Springsteen album, but the album that turned him into an icon).
11. Death or Glory, London Calling, Train in Vain – The Clash (This album was released in 1979, however I was turned on to it in 1983).
Springsteen's "The River" is an album that brings back many memories for me. It was released my Senior of HS. Great album.
From the lists people have created, I see many of the songs I put on a (cough cough) cassette tape for the prom night. After the prom, I would alway skip over those songs unless I was in a romantic mood like after coming from the bakery.
Since Heavy didn't list his songs from the 80's, I will add a list from what I know of him from the 80's. Heavy, let me know if I'm off base. There are stories behind each choice, but I will let him explain:
1. Purple Rain - Prince
2. Nightshift - Commodores
3. We Are the World - USA for Africa
4. Manic Monday - Bangles
5. White Wedding - Billy Idol
6. Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
7. You're the Inspiration - Chicago
8. What You Need - INXS (Ask him why)
9. Nothing Compares to You - The Family
10. Girl You Know It's True - Milli Vanilli (not kidding!)
BS - Eddie Money?
DenverJ - Solid List. She Sells Sanctuary is a phenomenal choice.
D and crew,
Top-10 80's list:
1. Waiting for a Girl Like You - Foreigner (first song I ever...)
2. Panama - Van Halen
3. If this is it - Huey Lewis and the News
4. Under the Milky Way - The Cure
5. And we Danced - Hooters
6. Private Eyes - Hall & Oates
7. Photograph - Def Leppard
8. Don't Change - INXS
9. Moon and New York City - Christopher Cross
10. Respect - Erasure (like the song...not the guy's orientation); The Promise - When in Rome; gotta say I also liked Charma Chameleon - Boy George; Don't Pay the Ferryman - Chris DeBurg; Veronica - Elvis C.; Seventeen - Winger
